Professor Juan Battle, the principal investigator of the Social Justice Sexuality Project, is based at the PhD Program in Sociology at The Graduate Center of The City University of New York. The Graduate Center is located at 365 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10016.
As this project involves field research and is designed as a repeated cross-sectional study, we ask that you participate by completing the survey protocol. The survey will ask experiential and attitudinal questions relating to race; sexual orientation and identity; discrimination; employment; family; health and access to healthcare; as well as political and religious participation.
It is our hope that the research will provide a better understanding of the relationship of sexual identity and disadvantage and underserved groups in order to ideally remove or at least diminish the impact of disparities. Your participation in the research is very valuable as, we believe, increased understanding and knowledge is vital in the fight against discriminatory practices.
We do not foresee any risk or discomfort for you in participating in the survey. All information will be kept in the strictest confidence. Your name will not appear on the survey instrument itself. Print records will be kept in a locked file and electronic records will be password protected. Only members of the research team will have access to the files. Findings will only appear in the aggregate. Questions will not be used unless we have your expressed written or oral authorization to do so.
Your participation in the survey is voluntary. You are free at any time to refuse to answer any questions or end your participation in the project without any penalty of any kind.
